Brief & Role
A Senior Shopify Frontend Developer is responsible for building high-quality, responsive, and performance-optimized Shopify storefronts. This role involves translating design mockups into fully functional themes, enhancing user experience through clean and maintainable code, and ensuring alignment with Shopify Online Store 2.0 standards.
The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Shopify theme development, customization, and modern frontend technologies. You will work closely with designers, backend developers, and project managers to deliver seamless eCommerce experiences. Additionally, you will contribute to headless commerce implementations, integrate third-party applications, and continuously improve site performance and usability.
This role requires a balance of technical proficiency, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset to create scalable and engaging online shopping experiences.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain responsive, high-performing Shopify storefronts using Shopify 2.0 standards.
- Build and customize themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON templates.
- Create reusable and modular sections, blocks, and snippets for flexible and scalable store architecture.
- Convert Figma/Adobe XD designs into pixel-perfect, interactive UI with attention to detail in layout, typography, and animations.
- Optimize frontend performance, ensuring fast load times, accessibility (WCAG), Core Web Vitals and SEO best practices.
- Debug and resolve frontend issues while maintaining clean, well-documented, and version-controlled code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly, execute SEO tasks, and optimize Shopify sites for speed.
- Ensure high-quality UI/UX implementation with consistency across browsers and devices.
- Collaborate with design teams to implement modern UI patterns and enhance user experience.
- Optimize assets, images, and code to achieve strong performance scores (e.g. Google PageSpeed Insights).
- Conduct regular unit testing and proactively recommend UI/UX and performance improvements.
- Work closely with backend and app developers to integrate APIs, dynamic data, and third-party services.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce frontend best practices and standards.
- Support QA and testing teams during releases to ensure visual and functional accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams regarding progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Contribute to shared UI components, design systems, and internal libraries for consistency and reusability.
- Develop and manage theme presets to streamline the design process and ensure consistency.
- Use GitHub for version control, code management, and team collaboration on Shopify projects.

Skills & Characteristics
- Proficient in Shopify theme development, Liquid templating, and Shopify Online Store 2.0 architecture.
- Strong expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frontend practices for building responsive and high-performing storefronts.
- Experience with modern frontend libraries/frameworks such as ReactJS, NextJs or VueJS for dynamic UI components.
- Solid understanding of Shopify theme customization, section-based architecture, and reusable component development.
- Strong experience in performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse improvements, and asset optimization.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and accessibility standards (WCAG) to enhance usability and visibility.
- Exposure to headless Shopify implementations using modern frontend stacks is a plus.
- Proficient in GitHub for version control, code management, and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and pixel-perfect execution.
- Analytical mindset to understand UI/UX requirements and translate them into scalable frontend solutions.
- Ability to leverage AI tools and design-to-code workflows (e.g., Figma AI, code generators, automation tools) to accelerate UI development, reduce dependency on slow design iterations, and minimize bugs before QA.
- Proactive approach to bridging design and development gaps, ensuring faster execution and reduced QC issues through better validation.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies, stay updated with Shopify ecosystem trends, and continuously improve skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with designers, backend developers, and stakeholders.
